Monday, August 10. Tolagnaro (Fort Dauphin). Continued from yesterday's post.
When I asked Donné why already churched Christians had decided to join this new parish he gave three reasons:
1. They hadn't known who Jesus is, and Donné or his team members always talked about Jesus during their visits.
2. They began to be encouraged as they followed the Christian disciplines that Donné or his team members had taught them.
3. They had been impressed by the personal contact and visits.
I asked Donné which Christian disciplines he taught, and here's his answer:
1. Praying to God every day
2. Reading God's word every day
3. Trusting in the Lord, in practical matters as well as spiritual ones
Whenever Donné visits someone he asks that person to go on the same day and witness to a friend, because a level of trust has already been established by their friendship.
Later, if these churched Christians continue to come, he will teach them the importance of Giving and Evangelism.
What does he say when people ask him why giving is so important?
Donné answers with Malachi 3:10: "Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing."
And what if the people he visits aren't churched? What does he say to them?
To be continued!
