In the course of reading The Stuff of Thought: Language as a Window into Human Nature by Steven Pinker, I have just discovered on page 154 two quotations, apparently discovered on a restroom wall:

1. Time is nature's way to keep everything from happening all at once.

2. Space is nature’s way to keep everything from happening to me.
