APPLAUSE, BRAVA, APPLAUSE!
This past Sunday we congratulated Meredith Potter for a significant milestone:
And as a token of our gratitude, I gave her a new book by one of the Emerging Church luminaries, Brian McLaren, titled A New Kind of Christianity.
Bonus Question: What is the secular calendar date when we commemorate St. Michael and All Angels?

LAWRENCE HALL YOUTH SERVICES MUSICAL BENEFIT WITH PETER YARROW!
On Saturday, October 16, at 7:30 p.m., Peter (of Peter, Paul and Mary fame) will give a concert at Lakeside Congregation of Reform Judaism on Lake Cook Road in Highland Park. Proceeds go to the eponymous agency of Episcopal Charities and Community Services, where the rabbi's wife works and Jeff Singleton is Executive Vice President on the Board of Trustees. Tickets are $50, and Mother Meredith is putting together a group to attend, so let her know if you're interested and she'll reserve a ticket for you.
A TRINITY OF CELEBRATIONS (including one very special person)
On Sunday, October 17, One in Christ Church, the Korean Episcopal Congregation now worshiping at the former St. Hilary's Church, will be having a three-fold celebration: the first anniversary of their move to the church; the thirty-ninth anniversary of Korean ministry in the Diocese of Chicago, and the twenty-fifth anniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of their former vicar, the Rev. Meredith Woods Potter. Mother Meredith will be the guest preacher at the 10:30 am Holy Eucharist. A festive Korean luncheon will follow, and all members of St. Gregory's are invited to participate in the grand celebration.
Faithfully yours,
PRAYER AND DONOR APPEAL
Allyx Davison is a new addition to our prayer lists. She is the 16 year old daughter of friends of Kristy and Steve Pokorny, and her Hodgkin's disease has returned. She is having bone marrow replacement, and so she needs a steady supply of blood and platelets throughout October, November, and December. Each week Allyx will need at least two blood donors and two platelet donors― platelets are fragile, and last for only five days.
If you can donate, please email Nancy Cohn at nlcohn@aol.com. She will guide you through the process. I hope St. Gregory's will be a wonderful Point of Pentecost for Allyx and her family.
CHRISTMAS BASKETS
Christmas is coming!!! Please consider "adopting" a family or single adult for Christmas this year in the annual Cathedral Shelter Christmas Basket Program. The sign-up sheets are on the hallway table and will have information on the age and gender of the recipients. You will receive further info about your family or individual once you sign up. It is a wonderful opportunity to provide a Christmas meal and gifts to a family that might not otherwise be able to do so on their own. If you have any questions, please contact Cyndi Millspaugh at 847-945-7733 or Dorthea White at 847-946-1829.
