Dearly Beloved,
The 58th Annual Meeting of St. Gregory's Episcopal Church began with the Nine O'Clock Service and the announcement that a quorum had been achieved. Following our special Annual Meeting liturgy we reconvened in Founders Hall, and followed the Agenda in the Annual Meeting booklet. Copies of the booklet and the Treasurer's report are available on the Boy Scout Troop 50 table opposite the Parish Office.
For those who receive the Newsletter by email, you will be able to download the reports in the booklet by clicking on their titles under the Agenda. For those receiving the print edition, the Report of the Spiritual Condition of the Parish is included, and if you have access to a computer you will be able to get the reports on our parish website: www.stgregoryschurch.org.
Agenda
1. Welcome and Declaration of a Quorum (29 voting parishioners)
2. Agenda
3. Appointment of Secretary (David Schaper)
4. Approval of 2010 Minutes
5. The Spiritual Condition of the Parish
6. The Temporal Condition of the Parish
Mike Hill and Donna Shelton spoke on behalf of the Vestry, and Dorthea White reviewed her Treasurer's Report on the 2010 Operating Budget, our Designated Funds, and the Consolidated Balance of Accounts, with David Schaper providing additional information.
Mike Hill introduced the need for a Capital Campaign to retire the debt incurred for the remediation and renovation of Marian House. We hope that parishioners will consider contributing an extra month of their annual pledge― or more if they are able, in order to more quickly pay down the principal. We will send more information on the Fund Drive this month. In the meantime, if you would like to make a contribution to the Campaign, please let Dorthea know by specifically designating your gift for "Capital Campaign" or "Marian House."
7. Elections
a. Introduction of retiring parish officials I recognized and thanked the Vestry members who had completed their service to stand and be recognized, including Karen Dahl, whom I had earlier seen, and Nuala Kurokawa, whose presence was brought to my attention, as well as Curtis Baddeley, Dana Barron, Mike Hill, Lyle Ten Eyck, and Glenn Woo. They received sustained applause for their work.
b. Nominating Committee Report The slate of the Parish Nominating Committee was presented, and the nominees, including, for Wardens, Art Bielski and Catherine Martin; and for the Vestry, Al Bazzoni, Pam Dorband, Mary Furbush, Lisa Halpin, Tim Miller, and David Schaper, and for the Parish Nominating Committee, Jon Dutcher and Mary Keller.
c. Request for Nominations from the floor Without any additional nominations from the floor, the nominees were elected by affirmation.
d. Direct elections for Delegates to Diocesan Convention and Deanery Chapter Meetings After asking whether there were additional nominations from the floor, Catherine Martin and Ingrid Roberts, who had completed Candidate forms, were also elected by affirmation.
8. Reports
a. Buildings and Grounds Management Team David Schaper, Director, said that everything had been covered during the Temporal Report when, in addition to the work on Marian House, two donations for hallway carpeting and choir risers; progress on the placement of our new organ; and better-than-expected savings thanks to our new boiler, were cited.
b. Church School Coordinator (Gretchen Bayer)
c. Director of Church School Hospitality (Jaine Spellman)
d. Director of Music Ministries (Jim Collins)
g. Sally Craig Memorial Library (Susan Koy)
h. St. Gregory's Preschool
i. Vicar (Meredith Potter)
j. Youth Ministry (Erica Jeglum)
9. New Business and Questions There were some questions relating to the Master Plan (on hold until our current debt is retired and the overall economy improved); and Cyndi Millspaugh suggested we investigate the idea of making some sort of receptacle for donations available for non-parishioners who use our building.
10. Motion for Adjournment in Peace and Harmony was moved by Ed Collins.
THE NEXT ANNUAL CHILDREN'S SKIT. . .
