Dearly Beloved,
LOTS COMING UP IN JUNE!
This Saturday, June 4, Eden Louise Bathelt and Andrew Azmy Boutros will be confirmed at St. Ignatius', Antioch. Eden and Andrew will meet with the Bishops at 3 o'clock, and the service begins at 4 o'clock. You are all invited to come and support them, or support them with your prayers this week and on Saturday.
This Sunday, June 5, after the Nine O'Clock Service, Cissy Singleton and Nuala Kurokawa will be hosting a special Coffee Hour with a flag-decorated cake:
"We hope this will draw attention to the packing night on Tuesday, June 7. We hope this will promote visibility and encourage participation of the church community.
"As always, donations of goodies for the packages and check donations for the postage are always welcome.
"If you who have submitted a name for our mailing list, please check that the person is still deployed. (It costs $11 to mail each package.)
"The Deerfield Park District will be using Founders' Hall for day camp again this summer, so our next packing night will not be until late September.
"We look forward to seeing you on the 7th. Cissy and Nuala"
On Sunday, June 12, the Feast of Pentecost, we will renew our Baptismal Covenant at all three services, and baptize Elliot Jeglum in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit at the Nine O'Clock Service.
Please wear Pentecostal Red in honor of the Fire of the Holy Spirit and let Erica know if you would like to speak in one of your favorite tongues!
We celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity on Sunday, June 19 with our first 2011 Mass on the Grass at Nine O'Clock as we say goodbye to Erica on her last official Sunday with us.
Sunday, June 26, will be my last Sunday until August 7. This summer I will be on vacation during the month of July.
HOW TO HELP THE PEOPLE OF JOPLIN, MISSOURI
Like many of you, I was overwhelmed by the pictures of devastation from Joplin.
Lisa Halpin responded by wondering whether there is an Episcopal in Joplin, so she googled it and discovered St. Philip's Church, and passed the word to the 8 am service last Sunday as a Point of Pentecost. St. Philip's was largely spared, and the parish has become a center for the city's recovery.
If you would like to help Joplin recover, you may send contributions to the church at 706 Byers Avenue, Joplin, MO 64801 (417-623-6893; http://www.stphilipsjoplin.com/) or to the Diocese of West Missouri, P.O. Box 413227, Kansas City, MO 64141 (www.diowestmo.org), marked Joplin Tornado Relief Fund.
SANTA GRÉGOIRE, TOLAGNARO (Tow-lah-NAH-ro)
Even as work continues on the building, our companion parishioners can't wait to worship. These pictures were taken on January 16:
More work continues in February inside the church . . .

FAITH IN ACTION SHOUTS OUT TO TEENS TO LEND A HAND
Faith in Action is calling all teens that are looking for a special service project this summer.
During the warmer weather, the Whitehall Nursing Home opens its beautiful patio so that residents can enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Beginning in June, the patio will be open daily from 1-4 p.m.
Located at 300 N. Waukegan Road, the Whitehall is looking for responsible youth volunteers to serve cold drinks, ice cream and smiles to the residents. Days and hours are flexible.
Faith in Action helps local disabled, chronically ill and elderly residents maintain their independence and improve their quality of life by providing volunteers that offer assistance in the form of socialization, grocery shopping, telephone reassurance, transportation, and light household duties.
If you are interested in volunteering at Whitehall this summer, or if you would like more information about becoming a Faith in Action community volunteer, please contact Faith in Action's Executive Director, Robbie Boudreau, at 847-433-9411 or faithinaction.boudreau@gmail.com.
