Dearly Beloved,
OUR TURN AT THE CHRIST CHURCH, WAUKEGAN, COMMUNITY MEAL
THIS SUNDAY St. Gregory's team will be cooking and serving meals for hungry children, women, and men from 12 noon until 4 PM.
If you haven't yet offered yourself to this Gospel-enacting ministry ("I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink"), this is your opportunity!
We also are looking for donations of desserts.
If you have any questions, please contact Barb Schaper at bschaper7@aol.com; or Bill and Janet Foltz at wfoltz@comcast.net.

AND A NOTE FROM YOUTH MINISTER BRET CHANDLER!
Our second carnival for youth and families was a great success. The afternoon was filled with fun games and prizes for the kids and a potluck lunch with grilled burgers and hot dogs. This wonderful event took place after the Mass on the Grass, and shows the enthusiasm for community that St. Gregory's has. Thank you to all who participated in planning and making this happen!

UPDATE ON THE CONTINUING RECONSTRUCTION OF JAPAN
First in a series from former parishioner Alanna Foxwell:
"Dear Friends,
Five months. Especially here in the U. S., that is a long time and a lot of distance from the tsunami of March. We've had riots in Egypt and Britain, war in Libya, famine in Somalia, not to mention debt ceilings and stock markets and political campaigns to muddy up the newsrooms.
And until I was in Tohoku earlier this month, it was strangely a lot easier for me to articulate to anyone who asked what the situation was along the coastline than when I was in the middle of it. Physical distance― even when I still feel so close to the disaster – can make words so much easier to find and use."
