BRET'S BREVET:
SPECIAL HALLOWEEN-THEMED YOUTH GROUP!
During Youth Group this coming Sunday, I would like to take the opportunity to celebrate the close of our Youth Fundraiser Pumpkin Patch with a special Halloween YG.
The activities may be a bit messy, so I encourage students not to dress up in their finest.
Rest assured the mess will be limited and nothing too dramatic and no clothing could be ruined.
I will be wearing Halloween-appropriate clothing, and if any of the students wish to do so, they may join me!
We will also be making s'mores.
Hope to see you all there!

APPRENTICE NEEDED― AN INVITATION FROM JOHN WELKER
For the best part of the last 20 years I have taken care of the storm windows at St. Gregory's. It has dawned on me that I ought to have a successor, an apprentice of sorts. The job requires a weak mind and a strong back. The time commitment is 8 hours a YEAR (4 hours before Fall Clean-up and 4 hours before Spring Cleanup. Please call me at 847 808 7994 or email me at john.welker@comcast.net.

You can help by dropping off items in the box in Founder’s Hall from Tuesday, November 1 to Monday, November 14. Contact Ashley Babcock at 945-7546 or ashbab@sbcglobal.net with any questions. Thank you!
MORE ON THE CATHEDRAL SHELTER CHRISTMAS BASKET PROGRAM
As you know, St. Gregory's has sponsored all of the seniors and families which we were assigned. However, there are more than 75 families at the shelter who are as yet unassigned. It is not too late to sign up to be a sponsor. There are families ranging in size from 2 to 7 members. Perhaps you know of family members, friends, neighbors, or colleagues who might be interested to participate in the program. Please let me know and I can find a family for them. You can contact me at 847-945-5068. Thanks for your help, Marilyn Knilans

REMEMBERING THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED
At all three services on the Sunday after All Saints Day, November 6, we will read the names of those faithful departed who are near and dear to your hearts as we come forward to receive Communion. It's our way of remembering that we are all members of the Communion of Saints in heaven and on earth. There is a sign-up sheet for each service, so if you intend to attend the 8 am service that Sunday, please sign up on the 8 am list. Or call the parish office if you'd like us to remember your loved ones on this solemn and joyful holy day.
DEERFIELD HIGH SCHOOL RUMMAGE SALE TO HELP THE HOMELESS
The 3rd Annual Deerfield High School Rummage Sale to help the homeless will be held again this year from 9 to 3 on Veterans Day Friday, November 11, from 8 to2 on Saturday, and from 10 to 2 on Sunday. Early admission starts at 8 AM on Veterans Day with a $10 donation (free with an active military ID). This sale is run by students as part of our unit studying how poverty impacts not only the humans, but also the land, water, etc., where we live.
If you can donate any used items to the sale it would surely help. We will take any item that is in working condition and clean. You can drop off items after school on Thursday, November 10, from 4 to 8 PM at the cafeteria entrance. We will provide receipts for your donation that you can use for tax purposes.
If you have any questions or need help hauling your items, please let me know and we will pick them up at your home. Jeff Hoyer, jhoyer@dist113.org; 224-632-3265
