BARBEQUE! COMING UP THIS SUNDAY! 10:15 AM – 12:30 PM
Details immediately follow this BREAKING NEWS:
THE GOOD, BETTER, AND BEST NEWS ABOUT OUR BOILER LOAN DEBT RETIREMENT!
At its July 10 meeting, the Vestry heard some GOOD NEWS about the boiler loan― the outstanding amount owed on this loan had shrunk to approximately $19,600! We are very close to reaching our goal for the Boiler Debt Retirement Campaign, thanks to the generous donations of our parishioners. When your donations were added to our regular monthly payment against this debt, we reduced our debt by more than $32,000! Thank you.
But there's even BETTER NEWS! Since that Vestry meeting, parishioners have contributed almost $4,800 more to the effort. Once these donations are applied, our balance will be below $15,000, and so:
WE CAN PAY OFF THIS LOAN BY THE CAMPAIGN END-DATE OF JULY 31 IF WE CAN RAISE AN ADDITIONAL $14,800.
We are so grateful for all the donations received since this campaign was announced. Many of you have donated more than once. Some of you have made extremely generous donations, as well. However, if you have not yet donated or if you would like to increase the amount you have donated, now is the time to do it!
And the BEST NEWS is the progress we have made on our debt reduction: On April 22, the date of the Quarterly Meeting, our goal was to raise over $52,000. Today, our new goal is approximately $14,800. In a mere twelve weeks, we have made admirable progress. Over the next two weeks, let us all prayerfully consider our own contribution to this effort and dig just a little deeper.
Beginning 2013 without a deficit and with NO DEBT would be a prayer answered.
Thank you again, Your Vestry

CONGRATULATIONS CORNER
Kathy Swager reports former parishioner Ellen Smith is the proud mother of Jonah Forrest Ahern on 28 June.
Now that summer is upon us, we may not publish a Newsletter every week.

NOW HAPPENING AT ST. GREGORY'S― ST. LEONARD'S TOILETRY DRIVE
We are doing this Toiletry Drive for St. Leonard's Ministries (one of the Diocese of Chicago's Episcopal Charities and Community Services) because the men and women who attend their residential programs of counseling, training, and job placement only stay for three months. Then, as new people come into the programs, they need personal supplies of soap, toothpaste, razor blades, feminine products, etc.
We also do school supplies for their children returning to school. We provide new products, but if you have things for children [toys, clothing, etc.] that you want to donate, we can take them to another program we support in Evanston. To learn more about this or other joint programs [Celebrating Healthy Families― our fight against childhood obesity]…just give us a call, email us or stop by.
If you would like a letter acknowledging your donation, please put a self-addressed stamped envelope in your donation bag.
Thanks for your generosity, Yvonne and Butler Sharpe
ST. GREGORY'S PARISH LIBRARY IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE
The Sally Craig Memorial Library has acquired a multivolume set of the St. John's Bible, a beautiful reproduction of a medieval style illuminated manuscript Bible. The Bible from which the reproduction was printed was hand written in the ancient manner, with calligraphy and quill pens. The illuminations are beautiful works of art. It is displayed on top of the card catalog in the library. It will eventually be shelved in the Reference section.
The set was donated in honor of Charlie and Carol Porter by a friend of theirs, Adrienne McGrath. Please come take a look at this beautiful work. And show the young people in your family what a Bible from the Middle Ages looked like!
SENIOR HIGH YOUTH MISSION TRIP
On July 29 the St. Gregory's Sr. High youth will be going to St. Louis for a week long mission trip.
As in prior years our youth mission trip has been coordinated with Youthworks! which has established various ministry sites across the nation.
Throughout the week our youth, along with other senior high youth groups at our site, will be involved in ministry by preparing meals for the needy, cleaning and preparing transitional housing for abused women, and working with children and the elderly in the community.
In addition to our service, we will also be engaged in many worship, reflective, group building, and fun activities throughout the week.
At the end of our week, we will stop at a retreat center in Oswego IL for a night so that we might debrief our week as a group. We will return in the early afternoon on Saturday Aug. 4.
The names of the youth and leaders on the trip are: Allison Appelbaum, Chloe Seghers, Kelsey Travis, Ashley Benson, Hannah Benson, Emily Zint, Andy Boutros, Madeline Boutros, Ashley Babcock, Philip Lovacheff, Paula Hamilton (leader), and Bret Chandler (leader and youth minister).
Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts as we go out in service, ministry, and fellowship in Christ.
REMEMBERING PHILIP TRIER
"A recent parish newsletter mentioned the death of Phil Trier. Phil had committed 11 years of his life to sharing his beautiful music with St. Gregory's. For me, Phil was a gifted choir director and was as devoted to us choir members as we were to him. I suppose I'm one of only two or three people left who sang in Phil Trier's choir. It's a part of my life that I'll always cherish." Dave Schulz
In your prayers this week, please remember the sick, especially Butler Sharpe, Susan Porter, John Peacock, Eddie Nieto, Wenner Lugo, Glenda Johnson and Trista Carter, Martha Bennett, Ed Kussler, Jan Cesar, George Parry, Daniel Barid, Jack Schauble, Lucille Webster, Ryan, Cyndi Stevens, Barbara Tate, Karen Murth, Leila, Sharon Moceri, and Andrew Zint;
our companion parish in Madagascar, Santa Grégoire, Tolagnaro, and their leader, Rev. Donné;
the men and women serving in the armed forces and their families, remembering especially Carl Best, Alex Meade, Brian O'Lavin, Jason Greenman, Jamie Mitchell, Bob Morrissette, Ilan Kedar; and
for the faithful departed, remembering especially Margaret Babcock and Godfrey 'John' Johnson.
Faithfully yours,
