On Tuesday, Bishop Todd and Mother Patsy McGregor joined us for breakfast, having arrived during the night from Tana.
Our first stop for the day was Lemur Island, an easy walk from the Lodge.
The Babbs had arrived before us, and, having visited the Island already, were circling the Island by canoe.
In similar canoes, Jean, Meredith, Sarah, and the McGregors and I, crossed to Lemur Island.
We were soon joined by some Red-Fronted Brown lemurs. . .
. . . and some Black-and-white Ruffed Lemurs. . .
. . . and some Common Brown lemurs. . .
. . . and even a small Bamboo lemur. . . .
Now see how many of the following lemurs you can recognize and name!
Here's the first one— can you find his face? (Hint: look for the eyes!)
Having enjoyed these strepsirrhini companions, and explored that part of the Island on foot, we took to the canoes to paddle our way around the Island.
Eventually we spotted a clearing and a troop of Ring-Tailed Lemurs, so we beached our canoes for some close encounters.
These ring-tailed lemurs, known locally as Maky (in Malagasy), or Maki (in French), found Jean as interesting as Jean found them!
